New York-based Constellation Brands Inc., the world’s largest wine company, spent $384 million to purchase Svedka Vodka in a move that significantly strengthens its premium spirits portfolio.

Svedka, the fastest-growing major imported premium vodka in the U.S., was previously owned by creator Guillaume Cuvelier and Belgium-based Alcofinance SA. Svedka’s innovative and ground-breaking marketing campaigns have been particularly successful in reaching the influential young-adult market.
